Last time I was in a restaurant and I noticed a young man and a woman sitting by a table. After they ordered, they took out their phones and started to stare at them without talking to each other. They would occasionally say a word or two.
That situation made me think about how nowadays people overuse their electronic devices. I also see such behaviour during school breaks. Kids just sit and look at their mobiles instead of participating in conversations with their peers. Our gadgets often influence our social behaviour. Interacting with people is beneficial as it improves our interpersonal relations and social skills. It seems that we perceive our devices as a substitute for another person. With all the information the web contains, we can find anything related to our interests. Also, it's probably easier and less stressful for us to take out a phone rather than trying to think of a topic to talk about.
The final question is, what awaits us in the future as the technology keeps getting more advanced?
